Update From humidity Central

Wow, with all the rain the maringouin are out in full force.  That is mosquitos for you non-Cajuns!

good news is that I am finiished the qiuilting on my little piece.  And the gold threads play beautifully with the oriental theme going on.  Bet you didn't know your block was so Asian, did you?

I spent a long long time burying all the threads.  Whew!

So tomorrow I will put on the binding and the hanging sleeve.  And hopefully get to the post office Tuesday.  My surgery is the next week and since it is the right knee I won't be driving for a while.

I hope you like it, it is way cool!  Can't wait for all the photos to come out.

Received my quilt last week but wanted to wait to open it until I finished the one I was working on,  which I did on Thursday, so Marie, it is on its way!!!! When I could finally open mine , I was blown away!!! It was amazing, especially the first border that turned my block into  a circle....that was just perfect!!!  The follow up 2nd border and quilting just really set it off!!!!  Thank you ladies!!
P.S. In all my chaos with moving and everything, I forgot to take a picture before I sent it to you, Marie......could you send Julie a picture, please!!!!

& done!

I turned the final corner this afternoon & will finish the hanging sleeve after dinner tonight & off tomorrow.  I had some doubts I would make it but here it is:

This the back, of course, so no clues about the final quilt.

Really looking forward to the big reveal soon!

thanks to all the wonderful Robineers who did such a great job!

It's getting to be that time!

I know there are some finished quilts in the mail, and a couple that have arrived home... but there are also a bunch that need to be finished up and sent off by the June 30 deadline.  You know who you are!

Please, please, please -- if you know you're going to run late, please tell me now.

Thank You!

I am still struggling with the quilt I am to quilt, but my center arrived home on Saturday.  I had planned to open it only after this one was on its way but had another set-back & decided I needed the pick-me-up & pick me up it did!  It is charming, really, truly.  I had made two of the center & held one back & have been working on it in time with the robin & I will put up a picture of them side by side when all of this is done.  In the meantime thank you, thank you & thank you again.  You made my day.

& don't worry Julie, I will (plan to, WILL!) make the deadline.  I will forward a picture of both hen I am done.

Having now finished off the quilt I needed to quilt (and bind) and put it in an envelope ready to mail on Monday/Tuesday, I felt I could finally have a look at my own quilt, which has been sitting, tempting me, for a week or so now. And it's lovely! (Not surprised, mind you...) - thanks to everyone who turned my slightly challening block into something gorgeous for me to look at... Not sure who you were (except Mary Jane, who quilted it) but I will find out in due course when we have a grand reveal - looking forward to that!

Well, good - got that job done. Here's a little sneak peak, which won't show you anything, as it's the back. (Cue evil laughter)...

Now, to finish off the binding and get it in the MAIL!

Can I ask a Favor?

Yesterday, my Post Office "found" a package for me that had been sitting for a couple weeks but, because I never received a notice about, I didn't know it was there.  Yesterday I asked them to look anyway.

It would have been sad if I never received THAT package, but if a similar fate fell to my Cotton Robin quilt, it would be a TRAGEDY.

If you are the one sending my quilt home to me, could you let me know when it's on the way, so I'll know when to start asking the Postal clerks to look for it whether I get a notice or not?

And it is totally amazing!  The transformation from silly block to amazing quilt is unbelievable.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would end up so incredibly beautiful!

Thank you to all who worked on it.  The label dropped off somewhere along the way, but I will add another one when the list becomes "public"!

I love it!

Quilt heading home to Rachel

The quilt went into the mail this weekend. It should take 1-2 weeks to get to you from New Zealand.

Saturday, June 14, 2014

My quilt went out in the mail today, to...  Canada!  Cross your fingers that it doesn't take weeks to travel across the border.  (no, I'm not saying who it went to!)

I have received my finished quilt from Mary Jane - and actually, I haven't looked at it yet, as I really need to get the one that I have quilted - my job for tomorrow. I've promised myself that I won't look at mine until the one I have is quilted (but perhaps I'll look before I get the binding sewn down, lol).

Two More Quilts Are Headed Home

I'm back from the post office, where the line was long and the main postal clerk was especially cranky ... fortunately, not with me.  When a woman at the counter pulled out her cell phone to call her employer to ask which way she wanted to mail some odd-shaped packages that were too heavy to go first class, I think I saw smoke coming out of his ears.

I mailed finished quilts to Liz and Kristin.  Liz can expect delivery in South Carolina on Friday and Kristin's quilt is predicted to arrive home on Saturday. (Email me if you need/want tracking numbers).

Saturday Update: The USPS site says both quilts have been delivered!  Yay!  Now, I'm ready to receive mine ...

quick reminders

I'm starting to hear from Robineers that finished quilts are going in the mail, and I know that at least one has been received so far!

(I'm getting closer to being finished, but I need to find some lime-green thread that won't shred as much as the "Rainbows" I tried already...)

Anyway, a couple of quick reminders:
- please email me a photo of the finished quilt before you mail it home
- let me know when it goes in the mail
- let me know when you receive your quilt
- please don't post photos online yet -- I want to save all of them for the "big reveal"!

Thanks for playing,
