second border done!

YAY - The monkey is off my back! No preview pictures this time, but I can tell you that I did an organic curved piecing border.

Second Border Done

I finished the border on my second project. I'll send it off to the finisher today. I confess, it was extremely challenging for me. Completely out of my comfort zone. I sure hope the finisher has some good ideas for it. I would be really stumped.

It looks like all robins have arrived at their destinations now!

Gwen's comment about all of the fabric in her stash matching her current project's DO NOT USE list made me laugh. I spent a little time at the beginning trying to route the projects to others who expressed somewhat similar design preferences, but I guess that's hard to do when all you have to go with are a couple of sentences of self-description! Next time I suppose I'll have to tour the country and take a look at everyone's stash -- is that a tax-deductible travel expense?

Gwen - arrived

Hi all,
My quilt topper has finally arrived. I looked at the preferences and realized that almost every piece of fabric in my stash matches one the the topper owner's DO NOT USE . OMG!!
However, I was almost instantly inspired for the next border, found some "acceptable" fabrics and will have it ready to mail out within the week.
If it is too early, just tell me a best before date and in keeping with Canada Post's records, will mail it one week earlier. That should help it arrive in the correct time frame.

Wayward package has arrived

My hubby sent me a message this morning from the house - the package I was waiting for has arrived. I can't wait to get home and have a look. I realise I live on the opposite side of the world, but it rarely takes so long for mail to arrive. I'm very happy we didn't lose all the hard work that has been done so far.

I finally figure out what to do & purchased the fabric with which to do it! Now to actually - do it.

Received 1st border

Just a quick note to say that I received the 1st border/center block this morning. Now I have to figure out what I want to add to it. Hmm. I'm thinking that a bit of applique would be nice.

Tuesday Update

The package that might have been sent to the wrong place wasn't, after all -- yippee! Somebody's just trying to test my blood pressure, I guess.

I do need to hear from Gwen -- please answer my emails!

And Laurina -- have you received your package yet?

Got it!

I got the block in the mail this last weekend. Sorry for the delay in posting, it has been a less than stellar week. Its a beautiful block! I hope I can do it justice!

Stolen Quilts

I just read an article on Facebook from Karen Combs and since I know some of this group are from Texas too I thought you might be interested and helpful if you knew her predicament.   Just go to her website and you will be able to read about it.

the current round - please read!

I've been doing some checking around to make sure that all of the center-block-with-one-border packages are being sent and received, and I've heard from most of you. Please remember to either post here or email me when you receive or send a package.

It appears that one might have been sent to the wrong person, so I'm working on getting that re-directed.  I allowed a little extra time in each round for this sort of thing!

Please DO NOT mail the current round (with two borders) until sometime between April 10 and April 20.   Before April 10, I will send everyone a reminder of where to mail the next package.

Thanks -- have fun! and let me know if you have questions along the way.

Just finished

I have the second border finished and I am very pleased with it!!  I hope the original owner will like it as well...I can mail anytime...or hold it whichever  we should do.  Can't wait for the final mailing and reveal!!!!

My next package has (apparently) been here for a while ...

The mailman that delivers at my apartment almost NEVER leaves a note when I have a package.  If I'm lucky and know something's coming, I can start tracking it down, it is sometimes at the property manager's office. sometimes at the post office, sometimes returned to sender.

When Julie emailed me yesterday and let me know that a quilt had been sent to me TWO WEEKS ago, I suspected it had happened again.  I went to bed hoping I didn't have to race around town looking for it.  Because SXSW--a huge Music/film/interactive/education event--has taken over Austin and it's currently impossible to "race" anywhere and all travel pretty much crawls.

I have the quilt.  Border number one on this piece is so amazing, what should follow is not at all obvious ... I wish the mailman hadn't robbed me of those two weeks--I could have used the time to just think and play.

I got a package from Melinda today. Now for round 3!

Swap mama - I don't know who to send it to for round 4/finishing...

Royal Mail Received

What fun to get a package from the United Kingdom. My hubby was all excited when he went out to the mail box in the pouring rain and discovered it. He said it made the slog through the wet worthwhile. I could hardly wait to open it and find the treasure inside. And it is a treasure indeed. Oh My! This is going to be a challenge. Julie in the Barn

1st border sent

I've tweaked the colors and hidden the original center block, but here's a bit of a teaser for the border which was mailed out yesterday. I had a bit of a delay because my grandpa was in the hospital so we were out of town visiting him. Fortunately he's feeling much better and is back home again. Thanks Julie for letting my 1st border recipient know about the hold-up.

Step Two Received!

I got my next project in the mail today!  It looks great so far.  I have no idea what I'm going to do to it next.

Pieced Borders, Three Ways

I finally finished up and will be sending my quilt#1 onto Julie tomorrow.

Although I initially planned for 4 borders and more symmetry, after I added three, it seemed "just right.

I added a foundation pieced border (shown here in Black and White--I promise there is enough contrast in real life colors):

And I added an itty bitty checkerboard border, pieced in a traditional way, made from 1/2 inch (finished size) squares:

The third border is liberated style, improvisationally pieced words ... which I am not going to share because–even in black and white--it would be too telling ;-)

I'm sorry for the delay, Julie.  I will send you an email after I drop it off at the post office to confirm that it's on the way.

I received the next piece to work on from Kristin today. Not sure what I will do to it yet; I need to consider it for a while and see what develops  :)

I got so excited!

I finished my round already just tonight!  And if I do say so, I just love it!  The person before me added what I thought was the perfect border and mine just makes her look even better!

I had an idea that was a bit difficult to do, I had to piece each segment individually.  But it was well worthe the time I spent on it.  It is wonderful!

I can't stop looking at it up on my design wall.  I may not get anything done for the next weeks until it leaves for the next round!  LOL.

In the mail!

I got mine in the mail today.  Can't wait to get my next one!

I received a package yesterday.  Will be a pleasant way to spend some of my Spring Break!

In the post...

My package went in the post today.  Should reach its destination by Saturday or maybe Monday.

I don't know...

About the rest of you, but I am having fun just reading cryptic posts or seeing altered photos. You see in my past round robins, A sent to B who sent to C - you knew who had whose & when and you knew who to expect to get a package from...

Am I alone?

(I reserve the right to change my mind/story when I am stumped in the next round.)

I received the block from Jay this morning and have begun to contemplate the next border.  So challenging....

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

it's that time...

Hi all you Robineers!  Your center-block-with-one-border should be in the mail by the end of this week.

So far I've heard from everyone that their borders are done and in the mail (or almost in the mail) EXCEPT:

Please post something when you mail your package, and when you receive one!

Done With Time to Spare

After being snow-birding in warmer climates for the past 6 weeks, I picked up a big bin full of mail at the post office yesterday. Almost all of the stuff was junk with the exception of our tax stuff (yuck) and a nice envelope with a quilt block inside. Thank goodness Julie was kind enough to send me a photo of the center block I would be receiving because I had plenty of time to contemplate a border. Not that it was any easier to decide what to do but at least I wasn't scrambling so close to the deadline. So, today I added the border and will post it tomorrow with a few days to spare. Can't wait to see what comes next! Julie in the Barn

& for what it is worth - Glen apparently already got it!

My package was mailed on Friday. Sorry for the delay in notification.

Mailing Mailing Mailing!

I mailed my block today at the post office.  When I got home, my next round was in the mailbox!  LOL.

I also mailed out the Block Lotto blocks.  When I got to the post office, I realized they went to the same person.  Duh.....I could have put it in the same envelpe.

On to part #2

I am mailing my first block/border tomorrow and I rec'd my second block w/ first border today!!  Really looking forward to working on this one too!  This is a fun project!!  Can't wait for the reveal...I hope everyone is taking pictures to post when we are all through!!

Happy spring everyone...we have been watching the geese heading we have seen hundreds of flocks overhead!!

First border done

I went a bit dotty with the border. I considered 'less is more' and decided that wasn't for me! Hopefully I'll get this into the post tomorrow.

The picture below has been edited, manipulaed, and the colors modified. Hopefully, it shows the general idea without giving it all away.

1st border done!

After a couple of math issues, it is finally done!!  I will get it in the mail later this week.  Can't wait to see everyone else's.

Border finally added!

Here's a little tease from the border I added to my centre block today. None of the centre block shows - and this is only a little tiny piece of the top as it stands, so it definitely won't give anything away!  It will go in the post either Monday or Tuesday to Julie H...

Center mailed yesterday

Here's a quick peek at one of the borders.  It was mailed yesterday morning.

first border on

My block was a bit of a challenge with the math and the quilters favorites, however, after much thought, I finally came up with a design idea and after a few false starts completed it. This morning it hit the mail.
The only problem is that I neglected to take a photo of the project. Silly me, head's in the clouds again.

Can't wait til the next part arrives.
