Dear S from NH

It arrived! Oh wow!!! I ripped open the envelope like a child on Christmas morning. Some extremely talented people worked on my quilt. The top is fantastic! S interpreted the blocks and gave everything a whole new concept with her quilting. I can't say enough about how much I LOVE this quilt. Perfect!!!

Tropical Storm Cindy Spurs Me To Visit Post Office

i figure, there's no reason for Terri's quilt to flood this year while at my house.  Right?

Can you believe this TS heading toward us? my house is JUST barely rebuilt.....

Baton Rouge, LA

Finally got a chance to quilt the piece I have here, this weekend. I haven't yet stitched the binding to the back, but that's a project for the next few days. If only we weren't having a heat wave, I think I'd be more inspired (I appreciate that some of you might not think that 32C is that hot, but Brits don't cope well with temps like that - especially when you consider there's no aircon most places...).  Anyway, I will definitely be mailing to Traceyann before the deadline, but it's going to be right down to the wire. At least my own piece hasn't arrived here yet, so I don't have to stare at it guiltily, thinking I should have been more prompt with my own work!

On the plus side, I do think it's a lovely piece and it came out well...

On the way to New Zealand

It is done and headed your way Laurina. I got it sent out last Friday, and they said it should be there within 2 weeks.

If there's no photo, did it really happen?

My husband and I are on vacation in Ontario (Canada) and it just so happened that we were in Toronto that weekend that Quilt Canada was happening -- that's Canada's biggest show each year. I swear I didn't plan it that way...

Anyway, I was able to enjoy the show AND have a meet-up with three Robineers: Sandra, Anne, and Traceyann.  Sandra has been a part of this group for years -- maybe from the beginning? -- and she corralled the others this year. They all live right in the area and it was great fun to meet the people behind the quilts!  The only trouble is, when I got back to my place I realized none of us had thought to take a picture.

The show itself was also great -- enough modern/contemporary work to keep me happy, and some really beautiful pieces.

Quilt-Con is in California again next year; if any of you are planning to go, we can have our own Cotton Robin get-together.  Keep in touch!

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Whew! Finally.......

It is finished!  I need to get a few hours of breathing room to get the piece off to Terri.  I so want to keep this one.....but then I always say that when I have to mail them all off.  I kinda think you should just make them all and just send them to me.....

Quilt on its way home to Allison

I dropped the quilt off at the post office on Saturday, so it is winging its way from New Zealand back home to Allison. Cannot wait to see mine come home and looking forward to the big reveal.

Getting there

The Piece needs to be bound and then it will be off!

I have to thank everyone who worked on the piece.  It came to me square and perfect.  It is not always easy to keep a small piece with many workers so flat and wonderful!

Friday, June 9, 2017

As we near the end of the Robin... please remember to let me know when you mail your finished quilt (and email and photo to me) and let me know when you receive your own quilt.

Everyone is a little nervous when these things go in the mail -- will they arrive safely? -- so I really like to keep track.

Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Dear Christa,

When you return home there should be a manila package waiting for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as three of the Robineers enjoyed working on it. (It's obvious that we were having fun.)

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Received my finished Wallhanging

Thank you Helen and the other Cotton Robineers for creating such a Patriotic Wall hanging for me.

Saturday, May 20, 2017

Dear Nan

I received a gorgeous block on Tuesday. When I saw the package still next to my chair (thank heaven!) I realized I'd done nothing except tear it open. You'd have thought it was my final quilt the way I opened it.
Any way, it's here and I am finished with school (forever!) on Thursday, so it looks like I'll have a fun project for my first day of retirement on Friday. I am very excited to begin work on this one.

Apologies to Helen

Helen, sorry, I think my brain's gone all middle aged and forgetful - I did send the quilt with two borders on to you to be finished off on the 19th of April (I've actually written the date on the instructions sheet - wasn't that organised of me?) - I have this clear (I thought) memory of posting a note here on the blog to say it was on the way and so forth, but apparently I either only wrote that note in my mind or I forgot to save it on the blog as it seems to never have appeared, and it wasn't until Julie chased me up to see if I'd sent my piece that I realised I hadn't said anything. I do hope it will arrive soon - seems to me it surely should have done so by now!

Quilt with row 2 received!!

Weeks ago actually!  From Peggy
Excited to get started....

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Oh, and...

I also received, several weeks ago, the finished block for me to quilt from TracyAnn C. It's a beautiful top. I'm looking forward to quilting it.

On Its Way!

I just sent off my finished block to Sophie W. It should be there soon!

Mailed and Received

I got the top off to Donna.  I hit the post office between the vet and the lawyers office.  Yep, filing a suit against a contractor.

When I got home, my top was in the mailbox from Julie.  Wow, what a dramatic round!  And I had to look up a word....that ought to confuse everyone, huh!

And would you believe, I don't have a single piece of *the main color* in my flood depleted stash?  Figures that I would get that one, right?

And the quilt shop closed after the online shopping it is!  Which is very, very, very dangerous......

Whew Made It! 2!!!!

Got the second row on and it's hitting the mail today to Peggy, SC.

Sunday, May 7, 2017

Whew! Made It

i am mailing this top off to Donna tomorrow.

I LOVE it!!!!

Hey girl, when  you finish it, just send it on back to me!

Saturday, May 6, 2017

Received top...

...and it is really cute.  In my humble opinion, I think there were some great design choices!  Now to quilt!!

Received my finished top to quilt, yesterday (or might have been Thursday - it's been a busy week, I'm not sure I remember accurately). Looks amazing. I really am not sure I will want to send this one back to its owner when it's quilted, lol. Now to think how to best show it off!

Friday, May 5, 2017

My second round is finished and on it's way to Terry. Should get there by Monday!  Now to play with the quilting on my final round!!!

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

Another deadline approaching...

Okay, Robineers -- please note that the deadline for mailing your top-with-2-borders is May 8!  (Mine is going to the post office today or tomorrow).

If you already know you're going to be late, please let me know now, so that I can alert the next person in line.

I received my top+2.

It's so lovely and fun!  Will begin quilting soon!

Late, but I have a good excuse

I may be a bit late.  We had that baby early!  8 lbs 9 oz, big big big boy, he was.  I got to stay in the delivery room!

Didn't think being a grandma would be so hectic!

Quilt on its way to Kate

I put the quilt top in the post yesterday. I had actually finished it a while ago but could not manage to get to the post office until now. It has a long journey ahead of it from NZ to the UK but it shouldn't take too long. All of that distance, but only a couple of hops on a plane between us.

Friday, April 28, 2017

Yay!!!! I received my 2nd round to be quilted!!  Thanks, Sandra!!!  Can't wait to get started!  But first I have to finish my second round so I can get it in the mail!!  I think I have finally figured it out!!

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Today I mailed the block with the second round complete.  It will be arriving in Midland, Tx on Friday according to the post office lady.

top received from Shannon

hello Shannon,
I received the lovely little mini yesterday!!!
Am pondering what to do to this cutie!!!
Just luv it-wish it was coming to live at my house!!!!

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Dear Liz,

There's an envelope in the mail to you. Ready for backing, batting and binding. Forgot to put in note: there were no requests or fabrics. I just put it in the post today so it will be a little while.

Change of plans

I had to re-design my round as I didn't like the results. In the end it is fabulous. Wish I could keep this one! I'll be posting it in the mail on Monday.

Saturday, April 15, 2017

Would you believe?

i still don't have a quilt room, or a place to sew.  The flood was in August, 8 months ago.

But now I do have a lot of fabrics, both donated and some of mine that have been laundered and saved.  And a dining room table at least.

I will have to spend this next week on this daughter will produce our first grandchild on May 1.  So my time will be spend bugging her to see the baby.

Who knew I'd ever like a baby so much, even when I haven met him yet!

finished 2nd border

What a fun round!
I really enjoyed working on this one!
(I think I say that about all of them!!! LOL!)
Mailing to Rachel tomorrow or Thursday!
Happy Easter to all!

I do love Cotton Robin

The center with one border now has two. I probably have to "admire" it over the weekend before I pack it up and mail it on Monday to Traceyann in Canada. That was a fun project to do.

The Robineer who is sending a piece for quilting/finishing to me ... go ahead as soon as you are finished. I will be gone all of June. Don't really want to make you all wait for me if possible.

As for allergies ... when I left Germany 42 years ago, I had not heard of anybody having allergies. Now being 68 I just have found out that yellow pollen from pines don't like me. Yuck! At least it is not sweet animals. My daughters have dogs and a cat and of course I want to visit with them.

Happy sewing to all.

Block Has Arrived

Hi Sophie and Julie, the block with the first border arrived today.  I have plenty of time to make the next deadline.

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Cotton Robin

Hi Julie,  I have no allergies, except maybe to housework😋. I have no pets.

Hi Sophie, I still haven't received a  pkg from you.  Have you had a chance to mail it yet?  No hurry, just want to be sure it isn't lost.

Monday, April 3, 2017

Just returned from a cruise down the Panama Canal so I am checking in on all my things.  Kate, did you get my package?

It has come to my attention that at least one Robineer is quite allergic to cats and had a strong reaction to the parcel she recently received.   I'm sorry to say that I hadn't really thought about this before, although since I currently have three cats in the house and volunteer for a cat rescue/adoption organization, it really should have occurred to me!

So I'm wondering if, in future robins, there's a way to structure it so that allergic persons don't receive packages from homes with cats...  To that end, an informal survey:

- do you have cats in your home?
- are you allergic to cats?
- anything else you're allergic to that might be affected by this swap?

Please respond by comment or email to me.

(I should add that, although I diligently keep all cats out of my stash, they do occasionally notice if I've left fabric out on a flat surface, and they don't have any qualms about claiming it for a nap-spot.)

Shannon C.

I am mailing block to you on Monday, sorry husband wound up in ER one day.

Mary M.

Just received the block from you😀

Friday, March 17, 2017

Oh, yes..... Diana I did recive the block.  Perfect choice you made!

Thursday, March 16, 2017

Kate, Da'hling

I mailed the block off to you today.  I think she undercharged me, so I really hope you get it in the. next few weeks!  I purposefully left the border a bit wide so you can choose your next move.  Wonky, straight traditional, small, wide.  I know what I would do, so I am very interested to see what you do! I am sure it will be wonderful!

Received My Next Block

It is awesome!

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

On the way!

Mailed my centre-with-one-border off earlier this week (after checking it was ok, since it was a bit early). Nice to have it done and not hanging over me - now looking forward to receiving the next one in due course...

The Gang's all Here!

The last center block arrived today, and I've made my list and checked it over and over...  so now I just need to figure out why I don't have enough envelopes!  Gremlins, probably...  in any case I will get all of these to the post office on Friday or Saturday at the latest.

Here are all the centers. You'll notice a few themes.  (If I don't have your block right-side up, please let me know.)

Monday, February 6, 2017

small update...

Hi all,

There are 3 center blocks "in the mail" and I'm hopeful that they'll all arrive within a couple of days -- so I'll be able to meet my self-imposed deadline of February 10 for getting them all mailed back out to you!

Today, I'm going to take photos of the ones I have so far so they'll be ready to post when the rest come in...

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

tick, tick, tick

I think my very favorite thing about the cotton robin is when the center blocks show up in my mailbox.  I like ALL of them so far -- so many possibilities!

So far I have blocks from Laurina, Diana, Rachel, Allison, Sandra, Kate, Christa, and Shannon.  And one from me... although after seeing the great stuff that's come in, I'm thinking I might have to make something more interesting. Hmmm.

I've heard from more of you that your blocks are in the mail, or nearly so.  If not, please keep in mind that they should reach me in California by the end of January.  (If you're running a couple days late, that's fine -- please don't pay extra for priority postage!  Just let me know...)
