Thanks for the fun!

Thank you for letting me play along with the Cotton Robin. The Big Reveal occurred while my husband and I were on vacation in mountains notorious for blocking cell signals. When we did have service, we checked in with family, so I was unable to keep tabs on the reveal.

Wow! Some stunning little quilts have returned home. I am impressed with them all! I'll write a blog post later in the week but wanted to express my thanks for the fun and especially to Julie for hosting it. Though it must be stressful, you did fantastic work of it.

Thanks Julie!

what beautiful results!  Love them all..mine is already hanging on my family room wall..love it..

The Big Reveal - 2017 Edition

Well, there's still one quilt missing, but the finisher has gone AWOL and won't communicate at all... I asked her to send me the unquilted top but got no response. Terri, if you have a photo of the top you sent to New Mexico, please send it to me.

I just need to throw in a small rant about "Blogger". Getting the photos in the format I wanted has proved to be impossible, so I apologize for any inconsistencies. Sometimes I could set them left and right in the same row, sometimes not.  Sometimes I could add a caption, sometimes not. Sometimes when I tried to add a caption the picture disappeared, and very often the ones I tried to position "left" came out "right".   Totally frustrating system!  Deep breath... and

My little quilt finally arrived!  It was a total surprise since I did not have a quilt room yet after the flood last August and Julie creat d the absolute perfect block!

And the quilting was definitely worth waiting for!

Ohhhhhh..........still waiting.  Maybe tomorrow!

Frank brought a package in from the mailbox on Saturday and I got all excited.  Alas, it was only some threat I ordered!

nearly there...

There is one quilt apparently still in the mail from Canada to the US, and one quilter has gone incommunicado for more than a month so I can only assume that she received her finished quilt -- and have no idea what she's doing or not doing with the one she was assigned to finish. Disappointing... but thankfully Kate is relaxed about the whole thing and okay with waiting for her quilt to come home "whenever".

Once I hear from Glen that her quilt has arrived, I'll post the Big Reveal!

I Must Be The Last One to Send Off A Quilt

Hi Everyone, I'm sorry I've held up the reveal for the Cotton Robin. I managed my time poorly and then, of course, unexpected things happened. I sent it off today and it should get there Monday.

Liz, I sent off your quilt today. I offer you the same apologies as above. I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I hope you enjoy it!

Just testing out whether new posts are showing up...
Here's a post from Peggy that didn't show up for some reason...

My posts are not showing up and I do not know what I am doing wrong.
Tracyann and other Robineers who made my beautiful quilt...thank you from the bottom of mt heart ❤️.  I love how it is set on point, the lovely appliqué flowers, the 9-patch corners, the fine quilting and embellishments.  I will treasure it forever.

Hi Traceyann - just to say I am mailing your finished quilt off tomorrow (barring catastrophes) - hopefully it won't take too long to get to you. Apologies for bringing it right down to the wire...

received quilt from Terry today.  To those of you who worked on it- it is really pretty.  I absolutely love the colors and there is some really intricate piecing.  Lovely, lvely, and now I have to decide where to display it!

I got my box and opened it. My finished quilt! Yay! It is marvelous. I love how each person had added something wonderful.

Thank you, Elizabeth. The embroidery and little bird were a lovely idea.

Thank you, Julie. The arrow blocks were fun and the fabric perfectly complements the rest of the quilt.

Thank you, Glen. Your quilting was just perfect in matching the type of quilt it was.

All of you are something to be admired and thank you for making my block a grand quilt.

Dear S from NH

It arrived! Oh wow!!! I ripped open the envelope like a child on Christmas morning. Some extremely talented people worked on my quilt. The top is fantastic! S interpreted the blocks and gave everything a whole new concept with her quilting. I can't say enough about how much I LOVE this quilt. Perfect!!!

Tropical Storm Cindy Spurs Me To Visit Post Office

i figure, there's no reason for Terri's quilt to flood this year while at my house.  Right?

Can you believe this TS heading toward us?  Geez......like my house is JUST barely rebuilt.....

Baton Rouge, LA

Finally got a chance to quilt the piece I have here, this weekend. I haven't yet stitched the binding to the back, but that's a project for the next few days. If only we weren't having a heat wave, I think I'd be more inspired (I appreciate that some of you might not think that 32C is that hot, but Brits don't cope well with temps like that - especially when you consider there's no aircon most places...).  Anyway, I will definitely be mailing to Traceyann before the deadline, but it's going to be right down to the wire. At least my own piece hasn't arrived here yet, so I don't have to stare at it guiltily, thinking I should have been more prompt with my own work!

On the plus side, I do think it's a lovely piece and it came out well...

On the way to New Zealand

It is done and headed your way Laurina. I got it sent out last Friday, and they said it should be there within 2 weeks.

If there's no photo, did it really happen?

My husband and I are on vacation in Ontario (Canada) and it just so happened that we were in Toronto that weekend that Quilt Canada was happening -- that's Canada's biggest show each year. I swear I didn't plan it that way...

Anyway, I was able to enjoy the show AND have a meet-up with three Robineers: Sandra, Anne, and Traceyann.  Sandra has been a part of this group for years -- maybe from the beginning? -- and she corralled the others this year. They all live right in the area and it was great fun to meet the people behind the quilts!  The only trouble is, when I got back to my place I realized none of us had thought to take a picture.

The show itself was also great -- enough modern/contemporary work to keep me happy, and some really beautiful pieces.

Quilt-Con is in California again next year; if any of you are planning to go, we can have our own Cotton Robin get-together.  Keep in touch!

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Whew! Finally.......

It is finished!  I need to get a few hours of breathing room to get the piece off to Terri.  I so want to keep this one.....but then I always say that when I have to mail them all off.  I kinda think you should just make them all and just send them to me.....

Quilt on its way home to Allison

I dropped the quilt off at the post office on Saturday, so it is winging its way from New Zealand back home to Allison. Cannot wait to see mine come home and looking forward to the big reveal.

Getting there

The Piece needs to be bound and then it will be off!

I have to thank everyone who worked on the piece.  It came to me square and perfect.  It is not always easy to keep a small piece with many workers so flat and wonderful!
